Artist Statement Working with clay offers me a three dimensional freedom in design capability. The direction of my work covers many aspects of style. Including: Art Deco, Art Nuevo, Contemporary and Traditional. The inspiration of my tile usually starts with an observation of nature, or from my surrounding environment. BonTon (French for "Fashionable and/or elegant in manner or style. Something regarded as fashionably correct.) was created to design and manufacture artistic handmade tile by old world methods. I custom create one of a kind artistic tile for commercial and residential applications. Though I work quite deliberately, employing both traditional and innovative techniques, my unconscious is no doubt my compass. I am a self-taught ceramics artist and have designed many of my own glaze blends and firing techniques. I take a "no boundaries" approach to the handmade tile business. As I always say, "If you can dream it, I can make it". My goal as an artist is to create beautiful handmade tile that enhances the space it occupies. To encourage education, strengthen legislation and to provide resources for all who advocate on behalf of our beloved animals. The tile for Patrick has been Sculpted!
